Of course our visit to Big H had to begin with a visit to his local....
..... and then a walk around his beautiful home village of Southwell....
.... to see the 900 year old Minster....
We completely took over his little house. A graceful and wonderfully generous host.
Need I say that this will be the LAST AIR MUSEUM that I want to include in our trip?!!!
(although this sign is one that I'd like to replicate in my home!!!)....

I'm a saint. Well, an Air Museum visiting Mum kind of saint. Truly.
So we then opted for a bit of a "cultural" afternoon and visited nearby Newstead Abbey (click here for more info) which was the ancestral home of Lord Byron. We were too late to get inside the house, but spent a couple of hours wandering in the spectacular gardens.

Good on you for including bird photos. Love the cygnet. I hope you were using a telephoto for the parents. They can be quite fierce and cause serious damage by beating you with their wings. But as there was no mention of it, I am assuming you came away unscathed. Have you been following Wimbledon at all?
Lots new here, but I shall wait until you return home to tell you all.
We were REALLY close to the swans, but they're so used to people that they didn't mind at all. They were sitting on the edge of a tiny path that we were walking down and they didn't move when we approached. The cygnet was just gorgeous.
The Peacocks were also very curious and tame...... they were walking right up to us looking for food in our hands!
We've been following the results of Wimbledon, but not the games as we haven't been watching tv at all. We're quite excited about simply BEING in London while the finals are on!
Am looking forward to hearing your news. I am on email!! Hope all is well. xxxx
