I lifted my head from the legal papers for long enough to realise that these were the fireworks from the Grand Final of Australian Idol... and then to quickly snap away before they ended.
Camera settings were not adjusted in the rush... so what I saw is what you get.

Wow! Amazing photos!
Beautiful pictures. BTW, how do you know that the fireworks weren't for you?
Great photos! They really did put on a show - and just for Idol? Sheesh!
They were soooo loud weren't they! I thought a thunderstorm had started!
Great photos.
just fabbo - thanks for sharing - I will show the wee lads in the morning - hugs le
Excellent photos!
I did notice Sydney seems to have a lot of fireworks. We were eating at Darling Harbour and suddenly there were fireworks. I almost jumped out of my seat because it was so unexpected. I thought we were being bombed.
Cool. It doesn't look like it was raining where you were?
Wow! Those are amazing photos!
Gorgeous!!!! Now I am reminded of New Year's on my first trip to OZ. I wish I had been able to take the planned trip in September for birdwatching, but alas too much to do re retirement. Next year for sure! You write well, so I'm sure the Affadavit is well worded. What a serious pain that you have to do this. DH is so very well named.
Ack! I cannot even spell my nickname. That is me above.
Thanks everyone. Glad you like them. Yes, Sydney Harbour has heaps of fireworks, and they often sound like bombs. It can be really distressing in periods of high uncertainty (ie just after the Bali Bombings and 9/11). And yes, it was raining.... but only a little bit.
I have to stick my head out of the window and turn to the south to photograph that view (I have only one window that faces south - and it doesn't open) and my hair was pretty wet by the time the fireworks finished.
