Topic! HERE topic! ....

Actually, I've got a few things to write about, but nothing coherent enough (or interesting enough) to warrant it's own post really.

She is not better, but is less anxious. I hope it's considered an improvement, because it is horribly frightening from where I sit. Each visit feels more and more as though I'm visiting an aged rellie with dementia. I know that her dementia-like-symptoms will disappear eventually, but man it's not fun right now.

Toto has gone away with his class for a 2 day excursion to our nations' capital. Which means that Boo is clingy and asleep in my bed (ugh - no sleep for me tonight).

And I'm hugely disappointed that the majority of Californian's voted Yes to Prop 8 and thereby ruled against same-sex marriage. On the same day that we're all celebrating a more liberal and life-experienced, less patriachal-rich-white-man president-elect. Sad sad sad.

I know lots of others have mentioned this in their blogs today (and I ripped my link straight from Lara's blog - thanks La!) but it's upset me so much that I thought it was worth a mention here.

I'm not judging though. We don't have it here yet folks. I would like to think, however, that if a referendum were held tomorrow, it would get passed.

I'd also like to think that I could still pull George Clooney.

I feel the same. It was the first thing I checked when I got up this morning. I'm a touch more pessimistic when it comes to the hope that it could be made legal in Oz though. I worry it will take forever for us to get there.

You could totally pull George Clooney! When you do could you get him to ask Brad to call me?!?!

I'm pretty pessimistic about that too, Ali. Hence my George Clooney thing. I'm totally dreaming!

Isn't it tragic? In this day and age? Bigotry based upon something as simple as sexual preference. Ugggh.

If, in a parallel universe, I do manage to snare GC, I'll SO get Brad to call you, Sarah!!

You and George? A done deal.

Yeah, it was bittersweet in CA on election night. I have so many gay friends who got married and the fact that people feel righteous about not letting people be happy in their lives makes me ill. It was national groups who put the money into this, not Californians. I have a very personal grudge against Focus on the Family, one of the sponsors. When I lived in Colorado Springs, whre they are headquartered, they got hold of a friend of mine and turned her from the funny, quirky woman who was comfortable with her gay friends, into a fearful unhappy person none of us could recognize. We are hopeful that at least the wingnuts will not be able to overturn the existing marriages because they were legal at the time.

Did I tell you that (a) I had lunch with George Clooney and (b) my penguins were more popular than him in Hollywood, according to an agent?

*GULP*

LUNCH with George Clooney???? Nope... I think I would have remembered that one Wen!!

It doesn't surprise me that your penguins out-won him in the popularity stakes. I always fancy the underdogs.

(hehe)

And BLEUCH to ALL the bloody extremist groups of this world. State, National and Global. "Live and Let Live" should not be such a difficult concept to catch on!!

PS. Next time you lunch with George, can you show him a photo of me? Preferably one taken in about, oh, 1983?????

Hey there. Posting here cos I can't see how to contact you another way. When I try to click through from my feed reader to read your most recent post it says it doesn't exist. Have you pulled it down or is it something else? Any ideas?

Okay, the literal truth. I had lunch at the Warner studio restaurant when we were checking out the site for the penguins to be at the opening of "March of the Penguins". George Clooney was sitting at the table right next to us. We had been joking about the penguins being more popular than George Clooney (that was the literal truth) when he walked in and sat down at the next table.
